BMC International Health and Human Rights focuses on publishing original peer-reviewed research articles related to health and human rights. It covers research related to health and disease in developing and transitioning countries, as well as all issues related to the impact of health policies, projects, and practices on human rights.

It provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers to share insights on global health and human rights, including but not limited to access to healthcare, gender based violence, prevention and control of non communicable diseases, and health issues of refugees and displaced persons. The magazine encourages empirical research on the right to health and critical analysis of the impact of human rights on health policies and practices. It also focuses on social, economic, and political factors that may affect health outcomes, and how to improve these outcomes through policies and practices.
