The Journal of Ethics and Information Technology is an academic journal dedicated to exploring ethical issues and challenges in the field of information technology. With the rapid development of information technology, especially the extensive application of the Internet in the world, information security issues have become increasingly prominent, such as computer hacker intrusion, network virus overflow, confidential information leakage, etc. The emergence of these problems makes the traditional ethics unable to fully cover the ethical requirements and norms of information development, dissemination, management and utilization. Therefore, information ethics came into being.

The study of information ethics originated from the research on the social and humanistic aspects of information technology, especially the study of computer ethics. In the 1970s, American professor W. Manner first proposed and used the term "computer ethics", emphasizing the application of ethical theories to ethical issues arising from computer technology. With the deepening of research, information ethics has gradually become independent from computer ethics, and the research object is more clearly positioned as ethical issues in the field of information, directly using the term "information ethics".
