The International Journal of Middle East Studies is an academic journal dedicated to the study of the geographical and cultural regions of the Middle East and its surrounding areas. The research scope of this journal is extensive, covering a long historical period from the early Middle Ages to the present, as well as vast regions including North Africa, sub Saharan Africa, the Arab world, Turkic and Persian civilizations, the Mediterranean and Balkan Peninsula, Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. In addition, the magazine also focuses on those who originate from these regions and have immigrated or settled globally.

In order to encourage interdisciplinary research, the journal particularly welcomes papers covering multiple disciplinary fields such as anthropology, art and architecture, cultural studies, economics, gender and LGBTQ+studies, history, law, literature, political science, religious studies, and sociology. These papers not only deepen our understanding of the Middle East and its related regions, but also reveal the important position of these regions in global history and culture.
