Academic Pathology aims to give voice to innovations in education, practice and management in the academic departments of pathology and laboratory medicine that may have a broad impact on the delivery of medicine, medical research and care.

The journal covers approaches to improving patient care (including clinical informatics, genomic testing and data management, laboratory automation, integration of electronic health records, and annotation of biobanks), best practices for cross-specialty clinical partnerships, innovative teaching methods and evaluation of educational programs for medical education in pathology, models for training academic pathologists, and support for advancing academic careers Administrative and organizational models of the discipline, as well as leadership development in academic medical centers, health systems, and other related venues.
