Azania-archaeological Research In Africa is an academic journal dedicated to African archaeology, renowned for publishing research on archaeology and pre colonial history in East Africa. Since its first publication in 1976, this journal has been dedicated to promoting a deeper understanding of the history and cultural heritage of the African continent.

Over time, its research scope has expanded to the entire African continent, no longer limited to the East African region. It now covers various aspects of African archaeology, including prehistoric archaeology, historical archaeology, environmental archaeology, cultural heritage management, as well as theoretical developments and methodological innovations related to African archaeology. The journal encourages scholars to submit original research on different regions and periods in Africa, whether it be relics of ancient civilizations, archaeological discoveries from historical periods, or reinterpretations of African history and culture. We particularly welcome research that can provide new perspectives, challenge traditional viewpoints, or fill knowledge gaps.
