The Journal of Criminal Law&Criminology is a law journal with a long history, founded by Dean John Henry Wigmore in 1910, and has played a unique role in the field of criminal law and criminology in the United States. The journal was a product of the National Conference on Criminal Law and Criminology held in 1909 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Northwestern University Law School. Dean Wigmore was elected as the first chairman of the conference and subsequently created the journal. Its purpose is to elaborate and promote criminal justice reform proposals related to the progressive era dominated by the first third of the 20th century.
