Zdravstveno Varstvo's mission as an academic journal focused on the field of public health is not limited to Slovenia, but extends to a wide range of areas in Central and South-eastern Europe. The journal is dedicated to promoting new public health achievements in these regions, including research results, policy analysis, practice cases, and health promotion strategies.

The publication of the journal covers many aspects of public health, such as epidemiology, health education, disease prevention, health service management, health policy and regulations. It provides a platform for researchers, policy makers, medical professionals and public health practitioners to exchange the latest information and research findings. Special emphasis is placed on the multidimensional analysis of public health issues, including the impact of social, economic, environmental and cultural factors on health.
